Starting my college course at just 14, I quickly gained  passion and interest in the world of beauty and skin therapy. When leaving school with my GCSE’s at 16, I also left college with my NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Beauty Therapy and was able to go straight into my NVQ Level 3 & Business Studies.

 

A year on, despite passing with distinctions, I found it really difficult to find a job as most places wanted somone with experience, and so I decided to split the year ahead into 4 and volunteer in 4 different salons in 4 different towns. This was amazing for building condifence, learning new skills, brands and working with a varity of clients and companies. Shortly after, I took the plunge and rented a room in a sunbed shop in Colchester and started building up a client base.

 

When I then saw a job advertised in Coggeshall for maternity cover role and was lucky enough to get the job, I worked in a beautiful salon with the most inspiring boss. If it wasnt for her support, guidance, and teaching, I wouldn’t be where I am now (thankyou Julia!)

My younger sister has followed in my footsteps with beauty therapy and in 2014 approached me with the opportunity of starting our very own business together “The Beauty Rooms”, and in June 2024, we proudly celebrated 10 years in business and are contuining to grow.

 

Over the years The Beauty Rooms have supported and raised money for many smaller local charities, as well as large ones, such as Colchester Hospital timeless garden, St Helena & Farleigh Hospice, Dementia UK, The Childrens Society. Charity work is a huge part of what we do and something we will continue wherever we can.

Our salon isn’t just about earning or providing a treatment, it’s being an listening ear, a support, and most importantly, creating a friendship. We have been so fortunate to have such a large, loyal and supportive client base and we cannot thank you all enough for choosing us and staying with us.
